My Guide Sighted Guide Volunteer
As a Volunteer Sighted Guide you would support a person with sight loss to safely navigate the environment, building self confidence and increasing social interaction; whilst maintaining dignity and promoting independence.
You would provide sighted guide assistance on a regular basis to people living with sight loss to help them achieve their goals (commonly weekly); supporting access to local services and facilities in their local community. The lengths of partnerships vary, from 6 weeks to 12 months +, your availability will be matched to a suitable customer.
This opportunity can take place within your locality with possible travel to support people out of area.
Time commitment: A suggested weekly time commitment is approximately 3 hours, negotiable with the organisation.
Expenses reimbursed: All out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: Full training is provided.
Selection procedures: An informal discussion, application form completion, references and a DBS check (cost met by organisation).
