Lead Nurse Practitioner at Cardiff and Vale UHB Receives Nurse of the Year Award
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is delighted to congratulate Lead Nurse Practitioner Tara Rees for her wins at the Nurse of the Year Awards hosted by Royal College of Nursing Wales.
On 29 June 2023, Tara received the awards for Advanced and Specialist Nursing, and the main Nurse of the Year accolade. Tara works in the hepatology team within the Health Board and has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to patient care and service development.
Tara has dedicated her career to creating new services for those with specialist needs. Her contributions to healthcare include liver disease delivery plans, community viral hepatitis clinics and the development of a new service for patients with end-of-stage liver disease.
On the night, Tara said, "I am immensely proud and this is a highlight in my nursing career. It is a true honour and one I take respectfully. I will use the platform to highlight nursing in liver disease as this is usually a speciality hidden under the gastroenterology umbrella. It is challenging and very rewarding and I am passionate about motivating others and will encourage nurses to showcase their excellent work. I would like to be a role model and ambassador and will hopefully encourage people into the nursing profession.”
Jason Roberts, Executive Nurse Director at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said, “In her time with the Health Board, Tara has consistently put the patient experience front and centre and continues to deliver high quality care for everyone needing hepatology services. In her enthusiasm, ambition and drive for high quality nursing care, she is a true role model for us all. I am delighted to see her win these awards and they are well deserved. Many congratulations to Tara and I look forward to seeing her future work within liver services.”
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is delighted to see Tara receive this accolade and appreciate all the work she puts into the hepatology team.
We would also like to celebrate Interim Specialist Midwife Cara Moruzzi for her win of the Children and Midwifery award, and Early Years Bladder and Bowel Assistant Practitioner Heather Fleming for the Health Care Support Worker Award.
Congratulations to everyone nominated in this year’s Nurse of the Year awards and value everyone’s contribution to providing outstanding health care to all.
