Vale of Glamorgan Council and Cwmpas - Social Care Commissioners and Procurers in-person engagement workshop

The Vale of Glamorgan Council would like to invite you to attend their Social Care Commissioners and Procurers in-person engagement workshop on the 9th April 2024, 9:30am-12:30pm.  The workshop will be facilitated by Cwmpas and will provide an opportunity to explore how we can work together to transform the way services are commissioned and delivered. It will also be an opportunity to consider how we can better support the well-being of citizens and the sustainability of social care and support services.

Please can you contact sarah.evans@cwmpas.coop if you are interested in attending.

We are committed to working with our partners to transform our care systems, to deliver what matters to our residents and to make the best use of all available assets, which includes the strengths of our citizens, communities, and partnerships. We are keen to hear what you think and to hear about your experiences.

This workshop forms part of a programme of activity around how we respond to our duties under Section 16 of the Social Services and Well-being Act, but it is also an important part of a wider piece of work being undertaken by the Council. In response to a number of Audit Wales reports the Council has commissioned Cwmpas consultancy to undertake some work and to help develop a way forward in terms of how we work with other sectors and how we tackle poverty.  The reports highlight issues that are relevant across the Council and also contain detailed findings and recommendations in relation to the Social Services and Wellbeing Act, particularly S16. The approach we have been developing with Cwmpas is also intended to help shape the Council’s new Corporate Plan 2025-2030, and our Reshaping Programme which outlines our transformation work.

Our aim through this workshop is to explore current commissioning and procurement practices so that we may better understand the challenges within the sector. Through our discussions we will also identify opportunities for improvement and where we can progress our relationships with social enterprises and the third sector. This will provide particular learning within social care but will also be shared with colleagues across the Council.

Below are the links to the four relevant Audit Wales reports, three of the reports are national and one is local and specific to the Vale. However, you do not need to read these reports in order to engage in the discussions at the workshop and we are keen to have as many voices as possible in the room on the day.

·        Time for Change – Poverty in Wales

·        A Missed Opportunity – Social Enterprises

·       Together We Can – Community Resilience and Self Reliance

·       Working with the Third Sector (in the Vale of Glamorgan).

We hope that someone from your organisation is able to attend.
