Information Technology Support Volunteer

What is an IT Volunteer?

Information Technology (IT) Support Volunteers aged 18+ will be knowledgeable and confident in using computers and software, including Microsoft Office.  They will support With Music In Mind’s small team of staff, Board and volunteers, providing technical assistance to ensure the smooth running of the organisation in relation to IT, helping deliver a consistent, secure and efficient service.  This volunteer role is likely to be on an ad hoc basis, as need is identified or arises.

Through this role, the volunteer will help meet the aims of With Music In Mind in improving the lives and quality of lives of older people in the local community, reducing social isolation and loneliness, as well as improving the physical and mental wellbeing of the people who attend the groups.

What’s involved?

Volunteers may be involved in the following:

  • Resolving and troubleshooting technical issues encountered by team members, board members or volunteers

  • Disseminating information and providing tips on software use (e.g. Excel)

  • Supporting the maintenance of WMIM’s devices and software, to prevent disruptions

  • Undertaking health checks, examining current software systems and advising on potential improvements to improve efficiency, ease of use, updates and security

  • Supporting website updates

There is flexibility to tailor this role to suit the individual volunteer, if required.

Who is the role suitable for?

The person who undertakes this role needs evidence of advance computer competency or training related to information technology, including Microsoft Office.

The role is ideally suited to someone who is:

  • Friendly and personable

  • Honest

  • Reliable

  • Willing to seek further help when needed

Time commitment:  Flexible.  Remotely at home or as required at the office in Cowbridge
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: Full training is provided.  Volunteers will receive ongoing support from paid staff and informal chats should help to address any concerns or queries that they may have
Selection procedures: An informal discussion, application form completion and 2 references.
