We have a number of events coming up and are looking for volunteers to help.  If you like to do fun things, meet people be out in the open; then why not get involved?

Coming Up

NHS 5K – Do it your way, Sunday 31st July 2022
Walk, run, cycle or scoot the 5k distance through Pontcanna fields in Cardiff. Wheelchair and pushchair friendly and welcome to bring dogs. 

Volunteers needed on the day to steward the route and man charity stalls. Volunteers will be given a charity tabard to wear and will be placed along the 5k route by the event co-ordinator. It’s an outside event so suitable outdoor and weatherproof clothing needed.

Barry Island 10K, Sunday 7th August
We have free spaces to run the Barry Island 10k for the Health Meadow. We’re asking for each runner to try and fundraise a minimum of £100. (no volunteers needed for this event, but if anyone would like a free running space and fundraise, they’re more than welcome).

Outdoor cinema, Sunday 14th August
Join us for a free event located at Our Health Meadow, UHL where we’ll be showing 3 popular films throughout the day (Films to be announced soon as soon as we’ve had the licenses back!) . Drinks and snacks will be available to buy and donations are welcome. Volunteers needed throughout the day to sell merchandise and snacks and volunteer car park stewards needed. Volunteers will be given a charity tabard.

Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge, Sunday 16th October
Climb the three highest peaks in Wales – Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen Y Fan in 24 hours! A minimum sponsorship of £250 is required to take part plus registration fee which includes transport and a qualified guide to join the challenge.

Volunteers needed to drive the charity minibuses to North Wales the day before the event, stay overnight in a local hotel (paid for by charity) and the day of the challenge, driving participants to each peak and waiting in the minibus until the participants complete and then drive to the next peak. Drivers must have passed their driving test before 1st January 1997 and have a D1 (101) entitlement, or hold a passenger carrying vehicle (PCV) licence.

Shine Bright Appeal, University Hospital Llandough and University Hospital of Wales, throughout December
We are inviting local businesses, schools and individuals to sponsor an LED star which will be placed around the outside of University Hospital Llandough and University Hospital of Wales. All stars can be personalised with a company or school logo and will stay illuminated throughout Christmas for patients and staff to enjoy. Sponsorship opportunities for a medium and large star are available and one opportunity for a headline sponsor at each hospital. The headline sponsor will receive an extra-large star and representatives of the company will switch the lights on for us at the light up ceremony (dates to be arranged at end of November)

Volunteers needed on the night of the Light Switch on events to chaperone school choirs, sell merchandise, general stewarding. Dates to be confirmed for light up events at the end of November.
