Free Training aimed at addressing the issue of youth vaping

We would like to invite staff/volunteers across the network of those who work with children and teens to access a free educational programme aimed at addressing the issue of youth vaping. As you know vaping among young people has become widespread and the long-term consequences are not well understood.

Action on Smoking and Health Wales (ASH Wales) is a registered charity dedicated to tackling the health inequalities caused by smoking and vaping. Through our collaboration with Welsh Government, Public health agencies and academic researchers, we have curated a package of support for service providers that directly interface with young people.

Our training addresses the knowledge deficit surrounding vaping combining informative presentations and workshops to both staff/volunteers and pupils ensuring that we:

·       Equip your staff/volunteers with essential knowledge and supporting resources to comprehend and address youth vaping effectively.

·       Empower young people to make informed choices around vaping exploring statistics, insights, behavioural effects and associated risks.

·       Foster a supportive environment that addresses vaping-related issues.

·       Contribute towards the overall reduction of youth vaping rates.

This initiative has kindly been supported by the National Lottery Community Fund enabling us to offer you access to this programme free of charge. Our training package comprises the following activities which can be delivered in-person or remotely:

30-Minute Staff Presentation: An introductory session for up to 10 staff members, providing insights into youth vaping trends, risks, and prevention strategies.

1-Hour Pupil Workshop: An educational workshop for up to 30 pupils using interactive activities and discussions deepening the understanding of the consequences of vaping.

Should you be interested in receiving more information about this training, please contact me directly or click here to register your interest.

Yours sincerely,

Tirion Meredith, Project Delivery Leader, tirion.meredith@ashwales.org.uk / 07983709227
