Framework for increasing employment opportunities in underrepresented groups wins at the British HR Awards
Congratulations to the People Resourcing Team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board who won the Recruitment Initiative of the Year award, and received a Highly Commended award for the Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the year, at this year’s British HR Awards.
The awards were received for the Widening Access Framework at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, developed by Workforce Recruitment Manager Nicky Punter.
The aim of the Widening Access Framework is to provide work experience and enrichment opportunities for young people and those not in employment, education or training, to increase their knowledge and awareness of the wide range of career opportunities within the NHS, to encourage them to consider a career within the NHS and to support them in choosing the right path and entry route for their chosen career.
It aims to embed the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board as an anchor organisation within the local community to increase the employment opportunities for those who are underrepresented in the workforce.
These include groups of young adults who have been brought up in care system, individuals who have been made homeless, refugees, young adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, those living in areas of deprivation, Ethnic Minority groups, those with disabilities and those who are long-term unemployed.
The framework has had a huge impact on helping individuals gain work experience and employment. Congratulations to all those involved.
