E-Mentor Volunteers
Bullying affects over 1.5 million of the UK’s children and young people every year and being bullied is something that no-one should have to go through.
As a Volunteer E-Mentor you will provide help, support and guidance to those who access the Charity’s e-mentoring facility. E-Mentoring provides the opportunity to receive help and support in a way which is comfortable as well as being safe and secure. Our mentors come from a range of backgrounds, but what they all have in common is a passion to support and improve the lives of those affected by bullying.
We are looking for volunteers who:
Have a high level of written English
Can prove their commitment by engaging regularly with their mentees
Have a passion for promoting social change
Are friendly, approachable and trustworthy
Are willing to go that extra mile to be a great mentor
Volunteers who undertake this role will be reliable and committed, open minded and non-judgemental, have excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate empathy with diverse audiences. The ability to adapt the conversation to each audience is essential as is the need to effectively manage questions from those who are being mentored.
Time commitment: Negotiable with the organisation. However, due to the sensitive nature of this role, we require our E-Mentors to commit to at least 6 months volunteering. Building a relationship of trust with the people you will be e-mentoring is essential to the success of this programme.
Training: Full training will be provided.
Expenses reimbursed: Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
Selection procedure: Informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
