Domestic Abuse – Let’s Talk about Women and Gambling

Have you and your teams/service made the connection between Domestic Abuse and Gambling?

Whether this is a new subject for you or whether you’ve attended our free CPD accredited sessions before, this event will focus the mind on Gambling Related Harms and Domestic Abuse, providing you with 2 hours of information and resources to better understand this silent addiction.

Did you know in the UK currently 0.5% of the population are considered harmful gamblers and 7% of the population are negatively affected by gambling? This is over 5 million people across the UK as a whole, which is one in 12 people either directly or indirectly affected by gambling-related harms: with numbers unfortunately ever on the increase.

Although gambling harms is often not a spoken about subject, people will present with domestic abuse, relationship breakdown, debt, mental health issues, housing problems, isolation, and suicidality.

This event will introduce you to the signs and risk factors of gambling harms and the process into treatment, we will also be discussing a Domestic Homicide Review that had a connection with gambling and opening up a discussion to get your thoughts on this.

This awareness event will leave you feeling more secure in your knowledge of gambling harms and Domestic Abuse, and how to help someone either in your personal or work life who is struggling with this topic.
