Carers Gateway Support Volunteer

Volunteers aged 18+ are required to contact our clients (unpaid carers) periodically, to check if the information we have given them has been helpful, enquire about their well-being and offer support and assistance as needed.  This role will sit within out Cardiff and Vale Carers Gateway service that provides information and support to unpaid carers in the region.  This is a home-based opportunity.  Duties will include to:

  • Assist the team by making periodic follow-up calls to carers to check their ongoing wellbeing and make sure the support we have given them is helpful

  • Assist the team by helping contact clients to evaluate the service provided at the end of an agreed support period

  • Support community activities post-lockdown to engage general public and professionals to raise awareness of the Carers Gateway

  • Report back outcomes of telephone calls to appointed Volunteer Manager to ensure information is recorded on the Charity log database

Time commitment: A suggested weekly time commitment is 2 hours.  Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm available.  Days and hours negotiable with the organisation.
Expenses reimbursed: Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
Training provided: Full training is provided as is support.
Selection procedures: An informal discussion, application form completion, 2 references and a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
