Cardiff Business School Breakfast Briefing Tuesday May 23rd 2023 8.30am - 9.30am

The Potential of Social Prescribing for Wales

Social prescribing is an innovative approach to healthcare that involves linking patients with non-medical sources of support to improve their health and wellbeing, and in Wales, where rates of chronic illness and social isolation are high - it has the potential to make a significant impact on public health.

The concept of this approach has received significant political attention and cross-party support in Wales with The Programme for Government 2021-2026 committing to introduce an all-Wales framework to roll out social prescribing, and the Connected Communities Strategy 2020 setting out the intention to support the development of social prescribing schemes.

In this briefing, we are pleased to be joined by Lynne Neagle MS, Deputy Minister for Health and Wellbeing, who will share some of the key findings from the recent National Framework for Social Prescribing consultation exercise, as well as outlining both current work which is underway, and future intentions.

Rebecca Fawcett, from Ray of Light Wales will join us to share their experiences of Social Prescribing, and will be joined by Dr Anna Galazka from Cardiff Business School and Professor Ellie Lindsay, OBE from University of Suffolk, who will share details of their work on the psychosocial Lindsay Leg Club model.  We will also be pleased to be joined by David Moss, Head of Locality for NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire who will share their approach to a new integrated mental health offer with social prescribing at its core.

Join us to further explore this exciting new area of public value business and social enterprise that can have exciting results for the wellness of Wales. To register to attend the briefing either in person or via Zoom, please follow this link
