Cardiff and Vale University Health Board remains at 'enhanced monitoring' for escalation

On 5th November 2024, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care Jeremy Miles announced the escalation statuses for Health Boards across Wales, confirming that Cardiff and Vale UHB’s status remains unchanged.

This means that Cardiff and Vale University Health Board remains at level 3 ‘enhanced monitoring’ for finance, strategy and planning, and ‘routine arrangements’ for all other areas.

Rachel Gidman, Executive Director of People and Culture and Acting Chief Executive Officer, said: “We accept the designation status applied and will continue to work on the areas of improvement highlighted by the Cabinet Secretary.

“While it is disappointing that we remain in enhanced monitoring, I would like to take this opportunity to thank colleagues across the organisation for their considerable efforts to make significant cost savings. We recognise that there is more work to do, however, our efforts and focus must remain on ensuring quality, efficiency and productivity across the organisation and to continue to do our very best for patients and the communities of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.”

The oral statement was made by the Cabinet Secretary at Plenary on 5th November. To listen to the announcement, please visit this link to the Welsh Government website.
