Cardiff and Vale UHB works in partnership to help businesses become Dementia Friendly

This week we have been marking Dementia Action Week by highlighting how our staff, partners and local communities can help support those living with dementia.

In the UK, 52% of us know someone who has been diagnosed with dementia. Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB) works in partnership with a number organisations including Marie Curie, Dementia Friendly Cardiff, Alzheimer’s Society Cymru and Dementia Friendly Vale to make sure our local services are welcoming and accessible for people affected by dementia.

If you are a business or organisation based in Cardiff or the Vale of Glamorgan, we can support you to take action and make some simple, low-cost changes that will help you provide Dementia Friendly services.

This support is available as part of the Welsh Government’s commitment to building Dementia Friendly Communities throughout Wales. In Cardiff and the Vale, working collaboratively with businesses and organisations plays a vital role in ensuring people living with dementia, and those people caring for them, get the support they need.

By becoming Dementia Friendly, it means that people affected by dementia can use their local services with confidence, and as a business you will feel confident you are helping to make a positive difference to your local community.

To find out more about how your business or organisation can become Dementia Friendly, download an information leaflet here, or email Ingrid Patterson: ingrid.patterson@mariecurie.org.uk
