Cardiff & Vale University Health Board celebrates National Healthcare Estates & Facilities Day

At Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, 1,400 of our colleagues work in our Capital, Estates and Facilities teams, many of whom are frontline staff and continually strive to deliver the best possible service to patients, staff and visitors.

Today, we are celebrating the huge contribution made by those who work across these services, from our post room, switchboard, security, facilities, catering, estates or transport and sustainable travel.

Did you know:

·    Our switchboard receives nearly 70,000 calls a month?

·    Our porters walk an average 20,000 steps a shift which is equivalent to nine miles?

·    Our ward-based catering teams serve around 1.3million meals per year and approximately 169,602 patient sandwiches?

·    Our linen teams deliver and collect more than 3.5 million pieces of linen per year?

Suzanne Rankin, Chief Executive of Cardiff and the Vale University Health Board, said: “Our colleagues in Capital, Estates and Facilities are fundamental to the care and service we provide to our patients. Without them, the work of the rest of us across our hospitals, community and healthcare settings, would be impossible.”

Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok where we will be shining a light on our Capital, Estates and Facilities teams and introducing some of our colleagues who make a huge contribution to the delivery of our services and patient care at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
