Bowel Cancer Awareness Volunteer

It is important that information and advice about bowel cancer signs and symptoms and how we can help as a charity is as visible and accessible as possible.

This flexible opportunity enables you as a volunteer to represent us both nationally and at a local level.  This is done by distributing our publications within your local area and/or delivering presentations (standardised template created by us) either over Zoom or to your local community (i.e. community groups and work places).  There may also be opportunities to support as awareness stands and events.

The volunteer for this role must have (or previously had) bowel cancer or been affected (friends/family).  We encourage volunteers to add their own experience of bowel cancer when delivering these talks.

You could help to:

  • Work pro-actively to promote awareness within your local area and using our branded publicaitons

  • Act as an ambassador for the charity at a local level, displaying energy, enthusiasm and commitment to our aims

  • Ensure information in the local community is relevant and up-to-date

  • Establish connections with local organisations and community groups

Time commitment:  A suggested time commitment is to aim to deliver an awareness activity at least once a month.
Training provided: Full training is provided to use our awareness materials as well as to use Zoom and/or Teams to deliver virtually. Regular support and supervision is also provided.
Selection procedure: Informal discussion, application form completion and 2 references and where required a disclosure and barring check (cost met by organisation).
