Blue Space Activity – Potential Funded Opportunity

Challenge Wales is currently seeking funding in order to expand its provision for young people, in response to the perceived needs of the current social and financial climate. And, is currently looking for new partners to look at working with, in addition to its current partners.

Challenge Wales has a proven history of positive development of young people who engage with our provision – our work is based upon the Youth Work in Wales Principles and Purposes: basically, youth work at sea! We use sailing boats (one of which is the largest sailing boat in Wales which you will see in Penarth Marina/Cardiff Bay and in the Bristol Channel) to engage young people in life skills development activity to help them reach their potential.  A previous 3-year project at Challenge Wales which was independently evaluated, highlighted a number of positive outcomes for those young people with mental health issues, and whose general well-being was improved by involvement in our unique learning environment.

Some of their case studies can be viewed on our website: Case Studies – Challenge Wales – as well as a great deal more information about how we engage with young people and the benefits of doing so.

We are looking on building on this previous project and at this stage are after the input of groups who work with young people with mental health issues to make sure we are understanding the needs of the young people. There is also an opportunity to get involved in the project at a later date. The survey takes 6 -7 minutes to complete and you can complete it here:  https://s.surveyplanet.com/xs25x3g0 – and we would really appreciate if you could do so by 15th June 2023.

Should you have any questions about Challenge Wales and this survey, please do not hesitate to contact us on 02920 704657.
