Apprenticeship Week Wales: a spotlight on Cardiff and Vale University Health Board colleagues

To mark Apprenticeship Week Wales, Cardiff and Vale UHB is celebrating colleagues who have successfully completed apprenticeship programmes with the Health Board.

Apprenticeships are available to entry-level colleagues as well as those looking to progress their career, learn new skills or change job roles and Cardiff and Vale UHB has offered apprenticeships in various areas from Administration, Digital and IT to Estates, Healthcare Science and Healthcare Support.

Apprenticeship Week Wales is an opportunity to highlight the breadth of different opportunities available to those with varied work experience and career goals, and the Health Board is proud to support the week.

Meet some of the colleagues who have completed apprenticeships whilst working at the health board:

Al Croose - ILM Leadership and Management Apprenticeship

“I have learnt skills in project and strategic management which has helped me when implementing change and services within my area.

I have also learnt leadership skills such as coaching, which I have utilised in practice to support staff in their own development.”

Charlotte Church - Level 3 Digital Learning Practitioner Apprenticeship

“It has massively improved my confidence and helped me realise I do have the ability and skills to put what I have learnt into practice.”

“I’ve had a really positive experience and there really is so much support as you work closely with your assessor and can take it at your own pace.”

Natalie McCulloch - NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care

“The course is extremely well supported by the tutors which has been amazing.”

“I would 100% recommend it, it’s a great way to learn new skills without the pressure of self-funding a course.”

Tony Famiano - Level 3 NVQ in Healthcare Management

“I would recommend an apprenticeship because it combines hands-on work experience with formal education, allowing individuals to learn practical skills directly applicable to their careers.”

We want to thank to all Health Board colleagues who have completed apprenticeships, advanced in their careers and contributed to strengthening and enriching our services.
